Chicken 65




                  Chicken 65 is a dish originating from Chennai. It was introduced in 1965. There are various reasons told by different people why it was named "65".
                   It is basically a snack. It is sooo tasty. Please check the recipe below.




 
Preparation Time: 20 minutes
Cooking Time: 20 minutes
Marinating Time:  30 - 60 minutes
 
Ingredients:
  • Oil
  • 2- 3 Dried red chilies
  • 1 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 10-15 Curry leaves    


  • For Chicken marinade:
    • 400 gm Chicken Breasts
    • 1 tsp Red chili powder
    • 1/2 tsp Garam masala
    • 1 tsp Corn Flour/Rice Flour
    • 1 tbsp Maida
    • 1 tbsp Lemon juice
    • 1 Egg
    • 1 tbsp Ginger garlic paste
    • Salt to taste
  • For Yoghurt Batter:
    • 1/2 cup Curd
    • 1/2 tsp Maida (for binding)
    • 1 tsp Red chili powder
    • Pinch of salt

  • For Garnish:
    • Chopped Coriander Leaves
    • Fresh Scraped Coconut
Method:
  • Cut Chicken breasts in slanting manner in small cubes (it makes chicken tender).
  • Marinate it with above mentioned ingredients for about an hour.
  • Deep fry the chicken pieces till crispy(golden brown). You can also shallow fry them. That's what I do.
  • Blend the ingredients for the yoghurt batter well. Set aside.
  • Heat oil in a kadai.
  • Add mustard seeds. Once they splutter, add cumin seeds, red chilies, curry leaves & the yoghurt batter to it.
  • Add fried chicken.
  • Continue to heat till all yoghurt is absorbed by the chicken.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves & fresh scrapped coconut.
